I am José Manuel, a financial adviser and an English and German translator

My experience

I have worked in the language-services sector for more than 10 years and have been working as a self-employed English and German translator since 2013. Thanks to my years of training at a major language-services company, I am familiar with every aspect of professional translation, including language use and linguistic accuracy, searching parallel corpora and terminology databases, and specialist software.

At the same time, I am passionate about investment and financial markets and therefore obtained the EFA™ certification in 2015. As EFPA associate number 25408, I provide financial-advisory services to individuals as well as specialist translation and content-creation services for financial institutions, Fintech companies and law firms. I am also a member of ASETRAD, the Spanish Association of Translators, Copy-editors and Interpreters, under membership number 1988.

European Financial Advisor (EFA™)

This certification confirms the professional competence required to provide financial advice, management and advisory services to individuals in personal or private banking, client-oriented financial services, and any banking, insurance or independent professional role involving an integrated wealth and financial advisory service.

The European Financial Advisor certificate complies with MiFID II, which requires all professionals who provide financial advice in any European Union country to hold a qualification certifying their knowledge as financial advisers. This framework is established by Directive 2014/65/EU and entered into force on 3 January 2018 (more information aquí y aquí ). In addition, the EFA certification grants access to the European Certificate and full membership of EFPA Spain and EFPA Europe. Why choose a translator with investment experience?

I believe that good translation and content creation require more than language skills, reading parallel texts and writing ability. Although all of that is necessary, it is also essential to understand the subject matter through professional experience in order to fully grasp a source text and translate it correctly into another language, because quality matters. I am passionate about investing and made my first investment years ago in Civeta Investment , where I met outstanding entrepreneurs and caught their enthusiasm for technological entrepreneurship and financial markets. Since then, I have developed mi perfil inversor alongside my professional career for a dual purpose: first, to learn how to plan my finances and manage my own savings while helping other people achieve their goals, and second, to apply everything I have learned as a translator in the field that motivates me most and from which I continue to learn every day.
